About Me

Namaste! I’m Aryan Kaushik - a software engineer and open source contributor based in India. I work at rtCamp building enterprise ERP and CRM applications with the Frappe/ERPNext framework.

Most of my projects started from a simple impulse: someone needed something, or I wanted to understand how something worked from the inside out. That instinct has taken me from compiling my own Linux distribution from scratch (300+ packages), to writing GTK applications, to contributing to software used by billions.

I’ve been selected for Google Summer of Code twice, first in 2022 under the GNOME Foundation, porting the Pitivi video editor to GTK4 (6,000+ lines rewritten), and in 2023 under Chromium, improving the chrome://policy pages in a browser engine that powers 74% of the web. Before that, I also worked as a Chromium developer at RedClub Technologies, delivering custom browser builds for enterprise clients.

My GNOME extension, Logo Menu, has crossed 2 million downloads and is widely used by Linux users to customise their desktop workflows. More recently, I built Open Forms, an open source kiosk form app now used by Canonical Ubuntu and various open source communities at booths and events.

I’m an Ubuntu Member, a GNOME developer and member, and an international speaker. I’ve presented at GNOME Asia Summit ‘22, ‘23 & ‘24, GUADEC ‘22, ‘23 & ‘25, and led UbuCon Asia 2024 in Jaipur as lead organiser and speaker.

On the learning side, I’ve completed CS50, CS50W, Google’s Python crash course, the Google IT Support specialization, and several others. I believe staying curious and teaching what you know are two of the best habits a developer can have, which is why I also led a special OS and Linux batch for second-year students at my college.

My goal is to keep contributing to meaningful projects and to give back to the community that shaped me. I code because I love to.
